چکیده

We present new observations of the fundamental ro-vibrational CO spectrum of V1647 Ori, the young star whose recent outburst illuminated McNeil’s Nebula. Previous spectra, acquired during outburst in 2004 February and July, had shown the CO emission lines to be broad and centrally peaked—similar to the CO spectrum of a typical classical T Tauri star. In this paper, we present CO spectra acquired shortly after the luminosity of the source returned to its preoutburst level (2006 February) and roughly one year later (2006 December and 2007 February). The spectrum taken in 2006 February revealed blue-shifted CO absorption lines superimposed on the previously observed CO emission lines. The projected velocity, column density, and temperature of this outflowing gas was 30 km s, 3 −1 × 10 18 cm, and 700 −100 K, respectively. The absorption lines were not observed in the 2006 December and 2007 February data, and so their strengths must have decreased in the interim by a factor of 9 or more. We discuss three mechanisms that could give rise to this unusual outflow.

Post - outburst radio observation of the region around McNeil ’ s nebula ( V 1647 Ori )

We present post-outburst (∼ 100 days after outburst) radio continuum observation of the region (∼ 30 ×30) around McNeil’s nebula (V1647 Orionis). The observations were carried out using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), India, at 1272 MHz on 2004 Feb 14.5 UT. Although 8 sources have been detected within a circular diameter of 25 centred on V1647 Ori, we did not detect any radio contin...

61 8 v 1 2 8 Ju n 20 04 V 1647 Ori ( IRAS 05436 − 0007 ) in Outburst : the First Three Months

We report on photometric (BVRIJHK) and low dispersion spectroscopic observations of V1647 Ori, the star that drives McNeil’s Nebula, between 10 February and 7 May 2004. The star is photometrically variable atop a general decline in brightness of about 0.3-0.4 magnitudes during these 87 days. The spectra are featureless, aside from Hα and the Ca II infrared triplet in emission, and a Na I D abso...

4 The Outburst of V 1647 Ori Revealed by Spitzer

We present Spitzer Space Telescope observations of V1647 Ori, the outburst-ing source lighting McNeil's nebula, taken near the optical peak of the outburst in early March 2004. The source is easily detected in all Spitzer imaging bands from 3.6-70 µm. The fluxes at all wavelengths are roughly a factor of 15 brighter than pre-outburst levels; we measure a bolometric luminosity of 44 L ⊙. We posi...

We present new optical, near-IR, and mid-IR observations of the young eruptive variable star V1647 Orionis that went into outburst in late 2004 for approximately two years. Our observations were taken one year after the star had faded to its pre-outburst optical brightness and show that V1647 Ori is still actively accreting circumstellar material. We compare and contrast these data with existin...
